King of Fighters 2002, The (bootleg) Rom Request

Post  AaronRageRose on Sun Aug 22, 2010 7:23 pm

Simple thing - I'm just looking for a copy of this game that works with Mame 32k .64 online.

I have a copy of it already, but the game does not audit. It works, I can play locally, but when I audit it, it says files are missing and checksums are wrong, and when I try to join someone who's playing on the server - it says the game is not available on my computer. So after downloading the game various times from various sources, I caved and decided to ask someone who has a working copy to point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the effort, but unfortnately this rom doesn't seem likely work for me either. Attempting to audit it in Mame32k .64 still yields the same result - it fails to audit due to incorrect checksum and missing files despite the game playing properly when loaded. I haven't had a chance to see if I can join anyone hosting a game, though, 'cause no one has one up at the moment.

I'll update as soon as I've had a chance to test it.

Edit: Tested it, and as I thought, it still says 'The ROM is not located on your computer'.

Hey AaronRageRose!

You can try using this if you dont have it already.
mediafire.com ?or33987jb9uqh7h

Its a file called MAME32k-AC
Its supposed to let MAME64 be compatible with some extra games.
Maybe your KOF will work with this.

Just put the file in the same folder as your MAME32k.exe.
When you open MAME32K-AC a window will pop up with some spanish but just click ok
and MAME will start like normal. Hopefully it will correctly audit your game.

Let me know if this helps!

If not, then I think Ltmonkey's bios Idea is the right thing to look at

I've attempted to use MAME32k AC before, but the .exe never runs - my guess is it won't work with a 64-bit system.

As for the Neo Geo Bios - I have the bios. If I didn't, I wouldn't even be able to play locally. But, I can play locally, and the game audits fine in MAME32k .117 and higher, and plays properly there - it's only in .64 that it fails to work properly. I can post which files the audit says are incorrect to see if that might help anyone.

The following are the files labeled as incorrect:

kof2k2nd: kof2k2_p2.rom 4194304 bytes 65df650d INCORRECT CHECKSUM: 432fdf53
kof2k2nd: 265-m1d.bin 131072 bytes ab9d360e INCORRECT CHECKSUM: f6fab859

I know, right? Yet everyone I ask points me to where they got the ROM, and yet when I get it wherever they point me, it never seems to work except for locally.

I have windows 7 64 bit and everything works in 119 and half of them dont in 0.64, I just use that because everyone in north america seems to use that one. Most of my neo geo games dont work but I got 4gb of roms from rapidshare so maybe they got damaged in the transfer/unpacking? Who knows, I wish we could all use 119 instead of 0.64.

Edit: just redownloaded the neo geo bios from rom world and now everything works great in 0.64 or 119!

As it turns out, there is a version of .64 Mame that works with 2k2!

The pack is called the SNK Maniak pack, and it comes prepackaged with 2k2 already audited - however, the moment you audit all games (like I just did), the game no longer shows up in the 'available' list...so don't do that if you plan on playing online.

Here is a link to the pack in question for all interested, even if it's a temporary solution rapidshare.com Emulador_rom_kof_2002.zip

1)Download THIS Emulator.( Mame32k 0.64 ) -- Not HACKED

2) Make a ROMS folder and put
THIS zip folder in it(don't extract)

3)Download THIS ROM from that site...
(Ignore the advertisement and just click the link at the bottom it will redirect you to the actual site)

4) Then put it in the roms folder

5) Afterward, on mame, Go to VIEW> REFRESH

If it doesn't work let us know so we can further troubleshoot the problem

I'm not saying he is dumb. I'm just making it easy for him in case he missed a step.

Re: King of Fighters 2002, The (bootleg) Rom Request

Post  AaronRageRose on Fri Sep 03, 2010 1:33 pm

Apparently, the issue arises when I use 'audit'. The game does not audit properly...but using 'view -> refresh' causes the game to show up in my list. I already had the roms from the places you had provided as someone else pointed me there prior to this and it didn't work when I use 'Audit all games'.

I wonder why this is? Anyone have any ideas? Even now after it shows up in my list, using Audit All Games causes it to be REMOVED from the list stating that the checksums are wrong.
